Why do we need work-life balance?

Through emails, video conferences. Chats, one is always connected to the workplace. It becomes very difficult to cut off and focus on other aspects of life.
Work –life balance helps one to achieve a better harmony between professional, spiritual, personal, health-related and relationships- related areas of one’s life. If one pays attention to just earning money, his career and relationships invariably suffer. Conversely, due to not being satisfied on the personal front, his ability to put in his best at work too suffers. What fun is it to come back to an empty house after a promotion at job? What sense of fulfilment would one achieve if he is at the top position at his company, but cannot enjoy a morning walk with colleagues due to a stiff back?
